So, what's wrong with us learning? The reason that caused communication difficulties is we did not use the common English in our spoken English. We should study English vocabulary but we should choose what would benefit our communication skills. ; U G9 [7 k% B2 u* l8 K

We are Chinese immigrants with limited time to learn English as our second language. Within this limited time, we should pick up the high frequency vocabulary that is related to our daily life and work. I always heard people saying: until my English is good enough, I will have to go on looking for a job as an engineer or a technician. Honestly, I treat this saying as an excuse for non-confidence (I often had this kind of excuses去s too). 4 Q; Y9 Z" S, M

One example from my husband: he works as an industrial engineer in GE for 3 years (since we moved to Edmonton). They serve all the global customers who use GE products and one part of his job is solving the(去the) technical problems over the phone. I can say my husband is very good at his professional terms and vocabulary in his major field, so he got no troubles(去s) with his job. However, when he got home and to watch TV or read the newspaper, he couldn’t excel me. Why? Because I spend too much time as a couch potato and I picked up lots of oral language that is used more often by local persons. Also, the main job of my graduate courses is discussing all kinds of topics about Education. We have a different focus of our learning in English. 8 Y5 M9 V! {9 g; G; j0 a9 X
