"Overqualified" means that you are too qualified. For example, if you had a master degree and you apply for a job that only requires a high school diploma, you would be overqualified.

hmmm, as I see it, it's just a sleek excuse. Don't beat the dead horse. Try try it again.

It's very interesting question since under most situations, if they think you are overqualified, they won't give you the interview. My suggestion is to change your resume to match the requirements and nothing more. I think the theory is if they give you the low level job, then you can't grow in their company and you will leave them soon. Just a thought.
