The double-blossomed peach-trees with rosy bloom were gay

From the white gate to the homestead they stretched in stately row,
0 O1 K, D" b7 v2 \5 {) L( KAnd showered his path with petals, just sixty years ago.
" \0 `6 _5 s: N7 H4 N3 vHis riding suit was spick and span, his jingling bridle rein,
- }* M9 w9 g2 b+ {& w7 SWas polished to the limit, his top-boots shone again;
" m; z- t$ I/ g. F+ ~, lA mass of youthful vanity, from curly head to toe,2 [: G7 ^ {5 ?; k0 e* {/ A+ u
Was my darling gay young grandpa – just sixty years ago.
- X5 |( K' s8 d" F4 ?6 [+ k) A% t2 `( |( d' _( Q( U
Upon the broad veranda, demure my grandma sat,2 F3 j& ?4 ~' S3 l& F0 I) m' P, i0 _
And hid her girlish blushes beneath her garden hat,0 U! q8 q' w! _- Q& G
Her dainty flowing muslins enfolded her like snow;
& p& }: ^' D9 C# ?! U( ZAh! Very sweet my grandma was, just sixty years ago.$ J( u- Y0 M$ ^" p0 E4 J7 ]
With sweeping bow and fluttering heart he told his hopes and fears,2 Y, L! _8 w# ?3 S3 o* _4 K( {5 ?
And grandma gently said him ‘Yea’, mid blushes, smiles and tears.

Good Father Flynn united them – just sixty years ago.4 x2 C; A1 Y( p" b9 [# U

~* Q( R% ?! D) @( K# }% D1 B- jThere’s a sound of mirthful revel in the dear old home to-night,9 c' \- w J2 l' L
Where the merry young folk frolic ‘neath the incandescent light,: Q ~* Z$ a9 U1 ?% N( U
Jazzing on the broad veranda, listening to the radio,# }( l3 V3 y( c
Knowing wonders quite undreamt of in the days of long ago.; [1 U. c4 B8 C- B$ ]- s& |. \
On the vine-enclosed veranda, sits my grandpa in his chair,
_" h8 F# b% D8 G4 ?4 mAnd the flower-scented night winds stirs the white locks of his hair;
4 h1 j( S7 ]4 T) H8 U/ Q0 ?$ TGrandma sits and smiles beside him, happy in the young folks glee,
6 a' ?! K( g1 Q7 aSuch a dainty dear old lady, ever young at heart is she.

* p, x% I3 Q2 g$ |3 M1 p7 \And the harvest of their labours in the moonlight stretches wide
, ~5 P! N" x! G6 pAll the land they’ve won and toiled for as they struggled side by side,! s* `( z% Y, D, k: q
In their brave old eyes no shadow from the griefs of gone-by years,
F2 r# a# f0 L6 lFor their hearts beat high within them – dauntless breed of pioneers./ J/ z5 Q, }, |/ D
Hand in hand they sit together, while the angels smile above,2 Y B" Q6 Y1 b& H3 u, p' {
On their long unbroken record of faith, sacrifice and love;
6 Q/ }! F+ d! X6 _From the double-blossomed peach trees come the petals falling slow,
