Position: Sessional Research Assistant / Salary: $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on education & experience / Location: Caucus Office, Room 501 Legislature Annex, Edmonton / Deadline for Applications: January 27/06.

General Description: This temporary full-time position will support the research and related activities of the NDP Opposition prior to and during the upcoming Legislature Spring sitting. Employment will run from early Feb. to late May/06.

8 d& k+ X% Z1 P/ H* u( AJob Duties - Under the direction of the Research Director, analyze/provide factually accurate & timely information to NDP Opposition MLAs on government bills, motions/budget estimates, and private member's bills/motions; Assist in the preparation of policy materials/speaking notes for use by MLAs in the Legislative Assembly; Carry out administrative, outreach and communications duties as assigned.

T$ E( [+ p* N( WQualifications & Skills: A flexible skill set that includes relevant post-secondary education/experience in researching policy issues; Strong interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills; Ability to work under tight timelines as part of a highly motivated team; Word processing and demonstrated ability in using the internet as a research tool; Familiarity with email and contact software would be an asset; An active interest in electoral politics.
