这件事有利于提高中国电工在IBEW424内的知名度

每一个IBEW424的会员（两年会龄且无有记载过错）都有资格参加竞选代表。

; C# k  h) C% A9 U1 [) k* }% s8 V& Y大会于9月17日召开。大约4月底5月初开始竞选。

The IBEW International Convention is held every five years.
The next convention will be in 2011 and will be held in Vancouver Canada.

' ~6 K7 v+ O$ C  t7 G0 b2 w" lThe IBEW Constitution, Article II (http://ibewminuteman.net/ibew_constitution/article-2.php ) governs the convention.
If you don't have a copy of it, ask for one next time you're at the Union hall.

( ^) n# G+ H8 Y9 GEvery Local in the IBEW will have nominations for the convention in the
4 l7 l6 A  ?3 Fspring of 2011. Any member in good standing for two years prior to
+ f" K2 T6 s0 w( n/ f! ?9 a/ hnominations is eligible to put his name forward for convention. Local 424
0 I6 c( [) v) |- L5 p) vwill be entitled to send eleven (11) delegates, based on the size of the
membership. In the last two or three conventions, Local 424 had about 40 to
) I2 ]) B! \; M& z1 _$ W0 e50 members put them name in. Members who are nominated for convention must
present a letter or be present to signify his willingness to attend.

1 ?4 d- D  G( u: j2 n9 FOnce all three units have had nominations, the union will verify the
: }0 ?8 [6 {' Q  x1 L6 Zeligibility of the nominees and then put every eligible candidate on a
2 l) k2 i' T5 U% ^, \  x2 sballot. Again, it would expect there to be about 40 or 50 names on the
ballot. The ballots will go out in the mail and every union member will get
to select eleven (11) names from the 40 or 50 names on the list. An election
judge will open up all the ballots and count them to see which 11 people
: n: q+ q2 q8 \) ]have the highest number of votes. Those people will be declared elected to
/ \8 r! o% ?" h6 K" e/ f  _! |- H' Bgo to convention. The convention usually has about 2000 plus delegates.
+ i1 _3 `4 v# P; |- k% _
Local 424 will provide rooms and a meal allowance for the week of the
) s; ]  u2 U  B* e$ B& N+ xconvention, as well as an allowance to travel to and from Vancouver. This
0 |2 T: w, Q* D8 d: C: ]money will be paid in advance of convention. There will be no cost to the
delegates unless they want to go shopping or something.

7 e; P) ^" P6 b4 U5 U( q7 ^' p" rPrior to convention, every Local Union has the right to propose resolutions
to the convention. Every convention will have a "Resolutions Committee" that
will present resolutions to the convention floor. The resolutions will be
debated and voted on the convention floor. Resolutions that are passed will
% ]) v! I4 x4 S: Y# H! uacted upon by the IBEW after convention.

At convention will also be the election of IBEW Officers. This would be the
International President and International Secretary Treasurer. Also
elections will be held for Vice Presidents and International Executive Council.

There will be a Convention work books from the last two conventions and it is available to anyone who wishes to go through them.

; p! b0 O7 ~& Z( ]Everybody is encouraged you to put their name forward for convention. It would be a
very good indicator of the organization of the Chinese electrician association. If you were one of the top 11 voted people, and then decided to not attend, the person getting the 12th highest amount of votes would attend.
