# k+ v# A7 ?$ f
9 H# a0 c: P8 e5 }- u
        1. I couldn't care less. 9 b+ T2 f7 V9 g2 d
+ h' D: J3 W$ L9 B; z+ O# S! U
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
- g# ?  x8 `) T+ r. r% N7 h3 m6 s. D0 J! `, S, c9 c) n2 U  d" T2 N
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
, g4 e) L7 @0 H$ U) R
6 K' y# Q. A% x+ R  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
4 b5 E) R3 [7 G: L, o! ]8 {* F* _6 o3 r* s
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) ! C. p$ K6 q6 y8 Q5 x, f

% \) t% r) k  q: D  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
* U' z. n6 H0 F5 \4 ?( Y& D3 V4 F9 p( ~( Q) U  `
$ Y6 `, P" k+ o5 @+ s8 p1 i
) J8 m4 i5 g. J' t1 W  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
+ n; v9 k0 N5 \. m2 `
Yes, you do(care). 0 P7 A" Y* ?. M8 s0 C. n: ~7 N
+ j) n' g- }  L$ B
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: 9 E1 O: e; {; F" U. M

1 x& e- R/ G! J  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
2 Y' s8 ?5 F, m( ?/ x2 d
* y5 n+ N$ j/ W! a4 \6 l4 L  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
' A! M. @/ ]7 t% o
4 z. M" d8 D8 n9 d" x6 f. S# i3 B  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
/ _6 q* e" [# M1 h4 G7 D
' m1 u) u& B  ?0 Z
5 B0 l* S9 h% u$ V  K  ^4 N% r' ?  I couldn't be more wrong.
: B/ j9 v  f4 D8 q0 F+ _& `7 E$ |+ z% L! O8 r
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 3 y( l: E0 t. V

  H+ L$ J( M" H$ S; z9 D7 q  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
% Y9 k! Q+ ~0 x! }& d: S, C2 Z/ L& [0 p  j; p! a
  2. No bones about it.
" x- E' `) X2 k: Y( y! _+ f# \7 u1 @6 P7 c( S! o
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: 7 n3 W  m/ V: K" c9 F
" b: b7 x/ Y& \7 g! l" d) @# t
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
6 ]+ f, u8 B7 f! d9 p4 @# {6 @6 x' Q8 l# I2 A8 |
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
" f9 R7 D; c" l; u0 U" }; H  k7 W2 B! h
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
0 V# L* j; X+ _- G' u7 T
3 R( Y- \* K* Q  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) * {' k1 Q. `! v( A4 y: d% H/ r

8 y& L6 j: ?' W) z( E  3. take it on me! 0 s: p* z) W" r4 ^/ j

4 V% c. y6 N! v( c  \$ S: ~. s  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: & Q& h' }5 B" \: W+ F

* o& M- @, ~" v, e+ p- f, ]/ n" j  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy)
5 D! y2 e, P$ i& g9 Q9 m$ a4 }, R& q  d6 e/ d7 _) X* u
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) 9 x0 Y  J$ t. }8 i
; {. d$ G: c/ ?5 _# x
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
" m! W" }( I. y; f5 Q3 J' X
- m/ C1 a& Z9 h& `9 m3 e9 |3 E  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
: s+ z2 g, T$ S2 d: \8 ?+ G- e1 t# x# M: X9 Q0 m
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 4 v+ H# N7 C( ]" d8 H* Y9 U
  D5 V: \8 R, ]% O6 r9 q
  4. I am from Missouri. + U/ o% W! P  x

* o2 l6 C2 I7 f8 P. o( ^( M9 m  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
# D' J/ J( x, H) c7 z. u. x$ a" h' v! r. j2 K8 J* Q
  b, x/ z! M+ V( _( S, [! j/ ^5 A% `( R! l) r
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
2 l! O# p. o# F+ F( f; s
. u1 v4 y- N0 o! \& ~: D  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
  V  i) M. X$ n
5 e0 T: M1 `7 N5 V6 p. g  h6 e  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. ) |9 W7 S5 L7 T% O
2 ?2 M* S2 J6 r# [- l8 R$ f
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
