“Responding to Family Violence in the Chinese Community program” started as a pilot project in 1999 to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to Chinese /Asian victims of family violence and human trafficking. The program became part of the integrated services delivery model of Today Family Violence Help Centre (Today Centre) since September 2012. Today Centre provides a centrally located hub of support in response to the essential needs of those affected by family violence. + T; a& c- _' ?; I
' u. G( E4 ~) C' } s. XContext: Outreach provides support services to victims of family violence within the Chinese community and assistance to clients going through the court process if required.

Qualifications: DSW/BSW, RSW preferred (related education and experience will be considered); knowledge of domestic violence, risk assessment, safety planning, and working from a case management approach. Previous direct front line experience in the area of family violence is preferred. Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese is required and thorough knowledge of Chinese culture.

0 a& e& G9 Z5 k0 ]' k, @( ^Plus: Ability to work within a diverse, strong team setting and with other partnering services providers; strong professionalism, flexible, organized with above average communication skills; ability to work independently, but follow direction; ability/willingness to be a team player. Must possess a valid driver licence, reliable vehicle to transport clients and/or meet with clients in the community.

Responsibility: Conduct initial intake interviews, risk assessment and safety planning and provide ongoing intervention to assist individuals in overcoming barriers to live free from abuse; link clients with appropriate resources; provide family violence education; assist clients going through the court process. ! ]8 `) O: g$ m; e

In addition: Complete all administrative tasks-documentation, data collection. Successful candidate must provide clear criminal record and child welfare check, prior to commencing employment.& Q* b. Q* G9 ~# K; l
