The end of year is upon us, which means the third Christmas of my landing Canada is buzzing. It seems like this festival means more and more to us with the years lapsed. I am not meant that I began to prepare the Christmas tree or candles to decorate my apartment. No, not for those physical materials of Christmas, rather, I feel my attitude changing compared with our first year’s feelings to Christmas. I began to regard this big day as our day, you know, not just for those “local people” specialized festival. This is the day for all of us who live in Canada! % @1 f3 b$ L- ]8 B, V+ k" _  x% D

" O2 X' q) W+ O- \: ZIf you connected with those so-called western people, you would find that nobody originally belong to this land. Of course, except for those aboriginal Indian. We are all foreigner and we are all host to this land as well. The difference between Canadian and us is our appearance. They are invisible minority and we, Chinese or other Asian, are visible minority. That’s it! Therefore, why treat Christmas as others’ festival rather than ours since we immigrant here and live here now? : c! ]9 A" J2 \+ G* G

Maybe someone would say: we are Chinese, and we celebrate our traditional spring festival as well. You are right! However, did you experience that kind of situation that is when people in China in a festival mood, you, situated in a far-away country where no merry ambient around you. How do you feel at that moment? Lonely, definitely!/ W  ?7 {# m% G5 [# V! X2 f

Some of us would wake up at midnight in Chinese New Year and log on the Internet to watch the big party of festival, but, again, we got no as merry mood as it should be. I, myself, only woke up once at the first year of my landing. After that, I never get up at that kind of early morning. Maybe this Boxing Day, I will get up, haha. 7 ]' v, ^3 ^9 d+ a7 b/ {, m

So, when people stayed here three or more years, I consumed that most of immigrant began to take Christmas seriously than before. I am so glad to see there are so many warm-hearted people in this forum to prepare the Christmas party and New Year party. For my opinion, we deserve any happy moment that occurred in this country and we are responsible for celebrating this Christmas for ourselves, isn’t it?6 i/ M' i& S! j

Christmas now is not just a religious holidays, even for local people. In my opinion, since we Chinese don't have the chance and mood, most importantly the days off to celebrate our traditional family holidays--Spring Festival, why not take the opportunity of Christmas to get together once a year with all of our family and close friends, specially while we are far away from our own land?

3 s# T6 ^# a# ]6 ]6 UI look at Christmas as a family holiday. That's all and therefore I celebrate it. Just for fun, I have a big Christmas tree and all the beautiful ornamanents set up. I even join the rush of holiday shopping for gifts for my family! Anyhow it is the biggest day for the entire year to enjoy the holiday spirit!
