3 P/ s$ C2 L# N/ F; F. H" bThe end of year is upon us, which means the third Christmas of my landing in Canada is buzzing. It seems like this festival means more and more to us with the years lapsed. I do not mean that I began to prepare the Christmas tree or candles to decorate my apartment. No, not for those physical attributes of Christmas, rather, I feel my attitude is changing compared with our first year’s feelings towards Christmas. I began to regard this big day as our day, you know, not just as a festival for those “local people” . This is the day for all of us who live in Canada!

{% `* _6 t" x7 VIf you are connected with those so-called western people, you would find that nobody originally belonged to this land. Of course, except for those aboriginal Indians. We are all foreigner and we are all host to this land as well. The difference between Canadians and us is our appearance. They are invisible minority and we, Chinese or other Asians, are visible minority. That’s it! Therefore, why treat Christmas as others’ festival rather than ours since we are immigrants here and live here now? 6 e3 M7 q# d7 Q& H

Maybe someone would say: we are Chinese, and we celebrate our traditional spring festival as well. You are right! However, did you experience that kind of situation that is (删掉) when people in China are in a festival mood, you, living in a far-away country where there is no merry atmosphere around you. How do you feel at that moment? Lonely, definitely!9 r8 R% \+ D: J3 _4 H

Some of us would wake up at midnight during the Chinese New Year and log on the Internet to watch the big party of festival, but, again, we did not get into such a merry mood as it should be. I, myself, only woke up once during the first year of my landing. After that, I never get up at that kind of early morning I never get up again that early in the morning. Maybe this Boxing Day, I will get up, haha.

So, when people stayed here three or more years, I assume that most of (删掉) immigrants began to take Christmas more seriously than before. I am so glad to see there are so many warm-hearted people in this forum to prepare the Christmas party and New Year's party. In my opinion, we deserve any happy moment that occurred occurrs in this country and we are responsible for celebrating this Christmas for ourselves, aren't we?5 d, d. y1 i) B
