Alberta Education - Permanent Job Opportunities - The Division of Basic Learning is seeking experienced educators for two Education Manager permanent positions (one in Edmonton and one in Calgary), effective August or September 2005. Education Managers report to a Director of Zone Services, with a matrix assignment to the Provincial Standards and Processes Branch. The successful candidates will provide leadership and support to Alberta Education stakeholders and school authorities in implementing provincial legislation, regulation, and policy.

These individuals will review and recommend revisions to provincial policy, funding regulations, and standards documents, and will research issues to prepare written responses to communication requests on behalf of the branch, senior officials, and the Minister. Skills in leading and supporting a team are required to manage projects with provincial scope. Strong consulting, interpersonal, and teamwork skills will be essential to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients. A strong understanding of the basic learning system and knowledge of the Funding Manual for School Authorities, Guide to School Board Planning and Results Reporting, Guide to Education: ECS to Grade 12, and the Standards for Special Education would be beneficial.  Knowledge and experience in special education would be an asset. Although not a requirement, fluency in French would also be an asset.

. g5 R6 K: U4 ^, d' ~1 z+ gRequirements: An Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate and a Master’s of Education degree or equivalent are required. Administrative experience at the school and/or jurisdiction level, with strong knowledge of school and school system operations, alternative programming opportunities for students (outreach, distance learning, home education), and an ability to travel are also required. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.
