to play ball 3 d: Q' ]% B- S* U

" g/ q7 m; q' I) C5 c7 e1 N7 Oon the ball
" d9 t% n( v- N+ G
& v* Z  ^& j. R: i: T! r# y2 Y. g! r; y0 U7 Y
. V: z" Z! f3 O. N4 q
! Q2 L8 I4 F7 ^: J' vTo play ball除了作打球解释外,实际上它也是一个俗语,意思是: 合作,或者是: 互相帮忙。美国人常说"You play ball with me and I'll play ball with you." 从字面上解释,这句话的意思是:“你和我打球,我以后也会和你打球。” 但是,除了孩子会说这样的话以外,大人一般都把这句话作为俗语来用。那末,作为俗语这句话又是什么意思呢? "You play ball with me and I'll play ball with you" 作为俗语的意思就是: 这次你跟我合作,下次我一定跟你合作。我们来举个例子: 这是一个警察在和一个抓到的贩毒品罪犯说话: ( b6 r1 d$ m1 q; {

9 Q: Z( f5 L" |, l: U: F例句-1: Look, you play ball with me and tell me who your boss is, and maybe we can get the judge to take it easy on you.
9 O. p& Q2 I8 |% O
@) b. I' c: V4 j5 h( W& b

+ W' u+ t* x4 L! ]5 |: R例句-2: To get his programs passed through the congress, a president sometimes has to play ball with members of the opposing party and do them favors in return for their votes.# t( n9 S& @+ ^
, P9 B: M. y. s) o
7 G, J9 \& O) G' A
* s5 P4 o+ K5 f
  ]$ O8 ?5 ]6 ]( @5 y
' ^2 \; x* Z9 n6 o; A2 o" @" q! k下面我们再给大家介绍一个由ball这个字组成的俗语:on the ball。 & W9 S! k4 _( I; c: r% N. q. x/ V
9 w$ B' T: w9 n4 Q2 T
; m# a$ s# r$ |5 ^! _
0 {! M% e4 A/ U7 \我们来举个例子看看on the ball在日常生活中是怎么用的。
4 x3 K4 q, l5 A1 Z6 |
例句-3: Say, that new saleswoman doesn't seem to pay much attention to her work. You tell her she'd better get on the ball and start taking care of customers or we'll have to let her go.6 e( K: y: E4 o' X+ N4 m. G
! L; J' k: z5 e0 B. C- h; t
0 a- g- Z8 w$ w. t- B+ w) W5 A
6 @1 C  i$ p4 f1 n8 N
3 Z- e2 x" q6 B2 T, r+ T% X8 A下面我们再给大家举一个例子来说明on the ball在日常生活中是怎么用的。

/ l/ x2 N# n+ B8 j例句-4: That reporter is about the best we have on the paper. He's always on the ball and brings back stories that most other reporters would miss.
3 W' Q5 ]/ m/ R7 k

On top of things
. W# P, d8 n: d) m4 X8 g2 i5 Q& l7 Y& J8 C" j# ?4 @/ n$ P
