关于《电工工会国际大会》的信息

这件事有利于提高中国电工在IBEW424内的知名度
十一个IBEW424的代表将参加于明年春天在温哥华召开的《国际电工大会》。
; A3 r% N9 ?8 u% Y2 r每一个IBEW424的会员（两年会龄且无有记载过错）都有资格参加竞选代表。
6 v8 T. S( h: e- o如果有中国人愿意参加竞选，我们是应该支持。
大会于9月17日召开。大约4月底5月初开始竞选。

; R: @$ u* @# q3 HThe IBEW International Convention is held every five years.
8 `: R9 L7 M& H. ^" hThe next convention will be in 2011 and will be held in Vancouver Canada.

The IBEW Constitution, Article II (http://ibewminuteman.net/ibew_constitution/article-2.php ) governs the convention.
: Z/ q8 r2 L+ w& uIf you don't have a copy of it, ask for one next time you're at the Union hall.

+ J9 A* Z& Q+ g  ^# n4 A8 u) QEvery Local in the IBEW will have nominations for the convention in the
- Y$ a& K/ G8 x, Wspring of 2011. Any member in good standing for two years prior to
nominations is eligible to put his name forward for convention. Local 424
! n+ E2 ^0 W" _* X$ P, C. }will be entitled to send eleven (11) delegates, based on the size of the
membership. In the last two or three conventions, Local 424 had about 40 to
50 members put them name in. Members who are nominated for convention must
present a letter or be present to signify his willingness to attend.

Once all three units have had nominations, the union will verify the
eligibility of the nominees and then put every eligible candidate on a
  J2 c, F( j8 Mballot. Again, it would expect there to be about 40 or 50 names on the
+ P/ V- d: g8 V! U+ i/ L6 \ballot. The ballots will go out in the mail and every union member will get
to select eleven (11) names from the 40 or 50 names on the list. An election
* B( Z) ]; ~4 d  t8 H4 Rjudge will open up all the ballots and count them to see which 11 people
6 N( F% i" A! ^$ ~  a* r( X* ahave the highest number of votes. Those people will be declared elected to
go to convention. The convention usually has about 2000 plus delegates.

- n2 q1 T9 `# B" h4 |Local 424 will provide rooms and a meal allowance for the week of the
convention, as well as an allowance to travel to and from Vancouver. This
5 V. |$ l4 Q! k& [money will be paid in advance of convention. There will be no cost to the
delegates unless they want to go shopping or something.

Prior to convention, every Local Union has the right to propose resolutions
to the convention. Every convention will have a "Resolutions Committee" that
will present resolutions to the convention floor. The resolutions will be
( u+ m( Z0 o4 `5 ?debated and voted on the convention floor. Resolutions that are passed will
acted upon by the IBEW after convention.

+ ]8 Z2 L" v. E* v6 vAt convention will also be the election of IBEW Officers. This would be the
) `5 a6 |2 N6 tInternational President and International Secretary Treasurer. Also
9 v# F0 j& B# ?) p' Xelections will be held for Vice Presidents and International Executive Council.

There will be a Convention work books from the last two conventions and it is available to anyone who wishes to go through them.

8 ]  m" a+ D% i3 Q' xEverybody is encouraged you to put their name forward for convention. It would be a
) A3 D+ \: V- ]8 X% m' d6 G( Z- ^very good indicator of the organization of the Chinese electrician association. If you were one of the top 11 voted people, and then decided to not attend, the person getting the 12th highest amount of votes would attend.
