Responsibilities and Tasks2 g, A# m1 c" T% s# u
6 }) |1 s- a* G
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
( ^, k4 y, l) S) V, W- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements, f4 J. a/ d/ A+ W5 S" j9 p
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
# [9 L+ X h: ]. @( V; D- Select type and size of pipe required& f9 [! W8 S* u! S: p7 ~3 M; m
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools6 n) i) [4 P; _/ i+ I
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
/ Q2 \3 B8 ?3 t- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
4 h& V$ j) e. X: P7 L7 {/ s7 S+ D- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
3 u6 P( i$ z7 k- \) x8 b/ i3 q- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system

Required Qualifications
4 ^* ^) i/ @$ A, `: w) c2 K$ L/ m8 l/ B- h
- Completion of secondary school
+ w8 B* Q9 y5 l3 n- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
& j& A# w/ D6 O0 B2 C- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals4 }) H6 _9 Q% m* N3 m+ ?
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence$ v" ~- a6 s) }, K( V
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
9 Q L+ v( a7 H$ v- Safety tickets are considered an asset
