Position: Financial Manager / Terms: 15 - 22.5 hrs. week / Compensation: Based on education and experience / Closing Date: Open until suitable candidate is found. Context: Action for Healthy Communities Society of Edmonton (AHC) www.a4hc.ca is a non-profit organization that has, since 1995, been providing public education and other initiatives to enable individuals to enhance their own lives and the lives of people/communities in which they live.

The Financial Manager shall carry out activities in the different areas involved in finance administration, accounting, budgeting, financial reports, audit, and financial analysis in such areas as budgeting, forecasting, fund development, cost reduction, and operational performance. Activities include but are not limited to: Budgeting: prepare a comprehensive annual budget. Plan and monitor budget implementation. Advise on program budgets and projections, to ensure viability and consistency, and maintain accountability to the various funders. Payroll and Payments: Prepare and issue mid-month and monthly payroll and prepare cheques for all Organization payments. Maintenance of payroll journals, appropriate allocations to funders. Control benefits. ROE, T4s, vacation and sick leave pay summaries. Etc.

$ Z* b# v# C7 I9 o [PLUS: Accounting - Prepare and analyze monthly and yearly financial statements. Monitor budget and cash flows implementation to keep up to funders' agreements and criteria and maintain strict cost controls over office and administration expenses to ensure there are adequate funds for future operations. Adjust journal entries and monitor shared costs and program and project allocations as needed. Prepare financial reports and cash claims to funders (according to agreements). Coordinate with auditor to prepare year-end audit etc. Management: Manage inventory and assets, financial agreements.

5 c2 l$ \+ U3 |8 l0 H, tIn addition: Keep the Executive Director and Board of Directors updated on sound bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting practice in Canada. Provide the Executive Director with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the organization. Update the Executive Director on all legislation covering HR payments, taxation and withholding payments. Make recommendations to Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding investing the society's funds to earn as much interest as possible. Other duties as instructed by supervisor.

7 g! z: R+ S) Z& oKey Qualifications: The Finance Manager candidate should have a Certified General Accountant designation, or a Certified Management Accountant designation. Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly in regard to presenting the financial statements, reports, and results of analyses to management and funders. Should have an outstanding knowledge of Simply Accounting and other electronic spreadsheets. Self-motivated and the ability to work as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving, analytienjoyedmontonman resource management, planning and organizational skills are assets. m# {8 Y/ L" \' e: W5 O A
