The end of year is upon us, which means the third Christmas of my landing Canada is buzzing. It seems like this festival means more and more to us with the years lapsed. I am not meant that I began to prepare the Christmas tree or candles to decorate my apartment. No, not for those physical materials of Christmas, rather, I feel my attitude changing compared with our first year’s feelings to Christmas. I began to regard this big day as our day, you know, not just for those “local people” specialized festival. This is the day for all of us who live in Canada! - y0 |: u6 l2 ]$ z' j7 j% o

If you connected with those so-called western people, you would find that nobody originally belong to this land. Of course, except for those aboriginal Indian. We are all foreigner and we are all host to this land as well. The difference between Canadian and us is our appearance. They are invisible minority and we, Chinese or other Asian, are visible minority. That’s it! Therefore, why treat Christmas as others’ festival rather than ours since we immigrant here and live here now?

( V8 A6 x8 S/ o) p9 m9 p" \& nSome of us would wake up at midnight in Chinese New Year and log on the Internet to watch the big party of festival, but, again, we got no as merry mood as it should be. I, myself, only woke up once at the first year of my landing. After that, I never get up at that kind of early morning. Maybe this Boxing Day, I will get up, haha.

So, when people stayed here three or more years, I consumed that most of immigrant began to take Christmas seriously than before. I am so glad to see there are so many warm-hearted people in this forum to prepare the Christmas party and New Year party. For my opinion, we deserve any happy moment that occurred in this country and we are responsible for celebrating this Christmas for ourselves, isn’t it?
