Become an effective steward of the environment using your strong scientific knowledge and applied technical skills! You will provide expertise to the department by compiling, reviewing and interpreting various air pollutant release inventories. Also, as part of the Evaluation and Reporting team, you will provide scientific assessments to describe the state and trends of air emissions in the province. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential to coordinate and support departmental, cross ministry and stakeholder teams in the development and presentation of environmental performance indicators. A major component of the position will be providing scientific and technical support for the development and implementation of an emissions inventory data warehouse for Alberta. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating and reporting on government/departmental key performance indicators and providing advice on new and emerging issues. Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are necessary to work with a wide variety of people within and outside the department. Strong computer skills also required including statistical analysis, graphics, spreadsheets, databases and word processing. 8 e: O" X. |2 g/ U

Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in atmospheric studies, engineering, air chemistry, science or related discipline plus extensive related experience. Related post-graduate degrees (Master's/Ph.D.) may also be considered in lieu of some experience. You should possess knowledge of specialized theories/principles in all aspects of air emissions, emissions inventory methodologies and legislation related to emissions reporting requirements. General knowledge of issues surrounding climate change as well as a sound understanding of statistical and deterministic procedures. The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret existing and new scientific information and present the information clearly to both scientific and lay audiences. Proven ability to conduct scientific research is also required. 4 E5 Q1 k( b* Q* G
