Ladies and Gentleman, I would like to share a true story with you. The story is about a Chinese girl who worked in Tibet. Her name is Chenjia. She is only 18 years old. She is bright, lovely and energetic. She has a happy family. She has many beautiful dreams. But in the morning of March 14, 2008, when she woke up and looked outside of her window, she did not realize that would be the last time of her life to see the blue sky and the golden sun. She, and other 4 young girls, was burned alive mercilessly by some Tibetan rioters on that afternoon, the afternoon of March 14.

0 I/ T, F7 [1 e" V0 {' wDid you hear this story? Did western media report it? Did western media want to report it? No, they did not. They think they know about China, but they don’t. They think they know the truth of Tibet, but they do not. They think their report is objective, do you think so. In my humble opinion, they only use stereotyped, and biased perspectives to talk and write about China. Whenever we watch TV, the Tibetan rioters became victims, while the real victims were forgotten and ignored. More ironically, they purposefully mistook Nepal policemen as Chinese soldiers in beating Tibetan protesters. ) C" L6 d1 U6 Y; g; \7 e+ W

Well, there is a different voice on Radio Canada International, in Chinese language though. I wonder how many Canadians can understand Chinese and how many people can get access to short wave broadcasting.

As we know, public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalists is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. We are aware of the presence of CBC and CTV today. I would urge the public to see how they will write about this rally today, here in Edmonton. We, as students and immigrants, come here totally from own free will. We sincerely hope that our voice will be heard. We sincerely hope those western media will give up their cold war logic and treat China more friendly and more justly. Only this way, can there be long lasting world peace and long live Chinese-Canadian friendship. ) y* c) n& l% u: r" r5 i! }
