Position Abstract: as a community organizer you will be responsible for providing training to residents of an inner city community who are actively involved in creating strategies for a healthier neighbourhood. Working towards ensuring wide participation by residents/organizations in the local community you will assist in reinforcing inclusivity. & {' `& N4 c. w1 X
3 A: y1 F3 X! [8 K& kPLUS: a capable advocate for alternative dispute resolution, you will liaise between the community and elected officials/municipal administration, assisting in the development of a strong working relationship between these groups. & o; u! `6 ~- w( [$ ~3 M
# m' }1 Z1 U9 k6 J6 v7 GEducation & Experience: the position calls for an individual with education in the humanities or related field + 2 years experience in the field of community organizing. Special interest in ecological literacy and sustainable communities will be an asset. + t: N o% Z8 |- n7 T% s7 Y
& X) y+ r7 h, S0 q, z tOther Skills: the successful candidate will have a strong background in building group capacity & seeing projects through to completion. There is a significant element of research and an opportunity for creativity in assisting residents to address community challenges.
