5 }' k, u6 K: j3 ~% B, LA 20-year-old woman has been charged after a tenant found the dead body of a baby girl under a bed in a north-end Edmonton home last week.

Naomi Russell-Simpson is charged with committing an indignity to a body, neglect to obtain assistance in child birth and concealing the body of a child.# L: t, M& G0 m/ {* O/ j' A1 b# E3 H( p2 B

The 20-year-old college student was granted bail Tuesday.+ q2 H1 B# d x0 Z
# S( }8 I5 D" m/ K+ O8 F7 nPolice have released few details on the autopsy results, but said Tuesday the girl was born alive. The girl's death is still being labelled as suspicious and not a homicide.& w, q$ k9 h5 {9 M
) F8 m3 R* {6 D6 ~& d# DThe infant was found on March 19 when a man sharing a home at 69 Street and 130 Avenue, who would only identify himself as Wayne, entered the basement suite to do some laundry.

6 [4 v, j7 e: U& U- f! ]5 w5 \) UWayne said his dog began barking and eventually led him to the body. He and his girlfriend called police after they saw a small hand in the bag.! b$ K8 g$ P. M. ?2 y

Police said the girl's body was wrapped in towels and placed in a plastic bag.* y" X1 F+ \% A2 N, p& l. i

The charges neglecting to obtain assistance in childbirth and committing an indignity to a dead body both carry a maximum penalty of five years.8 U& }# k7 F' F
