Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering

/ G2 ~0 A0 h1 S; `" r& ^and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.2 a- {, {# C% f+ b! r# N o1 ]( x

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m." q( B4 q4 V8 w& ~! k% E& V; h
Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?
( Y; y/ Z4 T8 b* ~7 kAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?! W- }3 o7 I7 ]; L# D5 s* f
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.
* q' ~' R+ z( H$ E" S, D5 m! w4 k/ @ W% B/ f5 y
8 Z# ^6 ~7 v1 h7 NVolunteer’s Duties:
$ \# y; i0 k9 e+ M8 Y
+ e$ ~* H( [3 d" e Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies ) G B& K6 w/ f# U
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
2 L, S0 P. \4 z* S Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
! m( c1 B6 z3 K2 n# K1 F Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
4 O8 [. q+ s' G- q Research activities related to the sessions’ topic3 O2 e2 u1 x3 ^( ?) z
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips% ~: P: s) \: Q! L% C6 p" W, y+ u4 H
 Assist in program planning

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
3 U/ a) J% J0 p9 y5 n One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer% M4 {* |4 P4 a% q0 Q

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
