Personal Growth Development & Homework Tutorial Class is a pilot project of the T.A.N.G. Youth Program. It aims to assist youth who have challenges in doing their school work. Students will bring in their school assignment and do it together with other students. Priorities are given to new immigrant youth who have been in Canada less than 3 years and/or youth whose families have financial challenges.

During the class, educational sessions on interpersonal skills, personal development as well as Basic English and/or French will be taught.

Each session begins with instruction on fundamental concept of English and/or French then followed by interactive/educational games. In the second half of the class, students will work on their school assignments.4 r+ g! B2 W8 q/ y& S* q2 z8 A

3 d/ t: ^+ Z) ?% |: v: pFall and Spring Sessions: run on alternate Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

) n5 ?/ c0 g' K7 Y% J5 e5 rAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants and/or whose families are facing financial challenges living in Edmonton or surrounding area.' V( k7 F1 S. M$ N( i3 n* P7 R# b

What is the cost of joining the Personal Growth Development & Homework Tutorial Class?

The program is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per session.

Volunteer’s Duties:
5 o8 s* i& _# I: o8 W6 j6 N1 e Assist youth with their school assignments 2 R3 N6 A. S( u* f R% I
 Teach basic concept in areas related to English, Math, and other subjects& R7 }5 z: A* Z+ @# h
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
' t6 A, |7 d \2 y Facilitate and/or coordinate/assist in workshop on personal growth development workshop series
4 D* g: J% r( Y0 R- \; ^" g Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities) j# y: I" _& z$ F" S5 o' f8 m
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions3 {3 ?9 C+ b' F* k; E4 y
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic

 Be a role model

Volunteer Commitment:$ V" k0 v- P$ M( x
 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
