apply to the Home Buyers’ Plan (HBP).

The HBP is a program that allows you to withdraw up4 G+ C0 L; L" ^" G, r" J4 S/ g$ x! w
to $20,000 from your registered retirement savings plans/ I" a& M7 R% H I
(RRSPs) to buy or build a qualifying home. However, the
( L8 c/ @' X1 iprogram sets out certain conditions for participation. If an
& `# w% d$ V: z5 J4 Hindividual meets all the applicable HBP conditions, the
$ R) C9 F% [$ A( b+ O( Rwithdrawals will not have to be included in his or her
: {: S2 G& O3 m& r! ^' ~income, and the RRSP issuer will not withhold tax on these
0 h+ H2 ^# ~- c9 ~" q4 |$ D8 damounts. If you buy a qualifying home with your spouse or1 D6 y# z% B3 O, G6 \
common-law partner, or with other individuals, each of
/ S" i& ~6 B5 Y R6 D, V) J: Z0 }you can withdraw up to $20,000.: o% ^" K! ~- ` G% D" [/ k. ]
Under the HBP, you have to repay all withdrawals to your
4 @5 f" \3 g& ]- Q9 X: KRRSPs within a 15-year period. Generally, you will have to
! Y' j L9 ~6 {$ y/ ~9 qrepay an amount to your RRSPs each year, starting the
9 b4 [6 e; H3 `second year after the funds are withdrawn, until you have3 K/ g. ?& f8 H5 u, \+ D# Y2 b
repaid the total amount you withdrew. If you do not repay
! F, p! b0 K" N9 `) w; E" i) ~the amount due for a year, it will have to be included in4 M7 A8 j& ^! x5 h
