u  e# H" ]2 ?' j$ f7 u& {; Q. d
5 M: [* X% _8 }& ^# d$ o7 k1 J( e1 s, A
        1. I couldn't care less. - T$ Y/ {+ t* J$ e& R2 o( t& r, Y

I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
) ]1 [1 J7 y% {/ c- x6 N! `
) ]+ a, B' ?8 c$ z- a  人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
# F. l' \; L4 U: h+ o
0 p% |( W5 k2 K, g: z  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
* d/ ?5 }) N, t; K/ y: r$ s* @' M' [0 l  v$ ]9 y" p2 p9 o
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) ) }, K# E$ _" u: e

$ _9 d& j& e$ e% K$ [  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
+ n5 d' `+ e) l4 L& j- }  U
' ]5 m3 X. b* z: C$ N7 |  但是有时说话者也有口是心非: 例如:
- O( m- M, L3 f$ k( }5 y  T
$ n, h# o0 d6 i! ~0 U. j3 |# i$ p  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
8 p1 y4 x2 L; A6 g9 u
6 U: a- \) x& k0 f3 ]* X1 n Yes, you do(care).
& a' S, J  L; F: Z! W% K: Q7 N; T/ p4 D1 O# J  P1 x
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: . n* k; G, e& @7 @

8 k. J  {6 ?; m% K& t* g  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 4 W$ n+ \4 [% F$ f+ P: X$ u

9 q/ Y, R) y" f8 l/ f0 D  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
4 |0 E" _& v: D
7 n$ o/ ~" k; c- c  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
! I+ j0 P* u4 W+ p4 t- Z% R7 V( i) a% X
. B' l& d5 q6 ]( q  X$ C3 b7 h+ k  R$ Y; w
  I couldn't be more wrong.
  F! A5 k) c% |- Q( X3 v- i" w  ^! T8 b3 }0 o, I9 i& M
5 B5 C; o( k) I9 @" X

. p- s$ M  V* z, o. j" i! }  不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
( y3 k' M. i; ]; A8 R3 m- y4 }* b5 G0 v2 h) `
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) & X8 A( d$ O* Z# d' \
3 _; k5 a8 {4 V/ t, }  r
  2. No bones about it.
! c0 Y$ I0 X; ?# {) u" A3 R% U3 L
9 f# T$ l7 F6 O$ e4 Z; l$ d  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
; q- C* \/ }9 R5 p4 d
6 h6 Q8 u- J$ G8 K+ e) H* f' f' ^# E  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 3 d* @$ g$ A1 S% v: u! v% a

# n- T* w' K, t* z0 [  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) 3 U: a: {4 }7 A7 W) V+ x1 }

+ O7 M, ?1 G/ \9 Q1 Z  X3 m  D  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) , X: U& _6 @; p+ n* I& Z
2 F" z$ G8 u+ j  Z* y, _2 `
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
& l1 R, O, _9 h" E; C! M! `- H' [! q! f) ~/ f) W  k
  3. take it on me!
. f9 L3 e+ ?/ z& n( H% ~5 ?
0 M4 C4 r( w. R# F- E  N. |* E  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: . h! O8 d' Q) d3 r/ ]+ T6 I
  l+ m! k- A6 \5 c
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) + F: r" F" B6 m( w' A6 Z9 F

" U. R, h! r0 z# O/ T, L  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) # o7 U% w: s5 p, B! H
6 G( Y# \, Q7 S# K
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) 3 B7 M6 m6 x( S) z" q! {7 n! H
! b0 A, |8 i/ t9 A0 m
* g3 ?5 ~/ K7 i3 @( b

- t1 B6 l9 ?( |$ C  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 3 d, }) j& _3 k6 g5 C
; H! X! ?' F! f& Q8 O2 y6 x
  4. I am from Missouri. 0 e0 W- P! o2 X9 s6 L) V
9 p( p9 m" u" d7 Z
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 5 K  `+ c+ p5 S; l' ~

" V( J' ]5 M- }, v  据说这句话所以流行 (尤其在美国中西部) 是因为美国一些名人都住过密苏里州,包括 Harry Truman, Mark Twain, Walt Disney 等。后来老外不轻易相信别人时,就使用这句话。(也有半开玩笑性质) 例如:
! t! g5 g* w' i6 V' u% C( ~' ?# B2 V
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. % W) ]2 V- O& J/ Z
5 P! ?. Q) [; f/ A! v: K
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
8 w! D0 [6 L% z5 G' t4 _$ |0 R; Q$ Z; c
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
" W1 _; G# p' I+ d+ j9 x, h0 l) Y  A) |+ U
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
