6 r2 v) G, D* x: o0 p z7 O8 V. tOur client is currently looking for a Chief Estimator to join their Dynamic Team in Edmonton. If you possess a strong background in the construction industry managing and supervising the estimating process for various large scale commercial and industrial projects and are ready to utilize your leadership skills while working within a fast paced and dynamic organization you will want to apply for this position.
! R4 R4 N+ {. s6 V8 uWe are seeking a motivated individual with a proven track record and experience estimating and developing bids for multi-million dollar construction projects. You must also possess a good understanding of subcontracted trades, procure subcontract pricing and analyze scope.3 n* M/ m; O# e5 Y! [
As Chief Estimator you will work to maintain competitive profitability, ensure quality standards and exceed expectations. In addition you will review new bid announcements, specifications and drawings for project opportunities and coordinate with estimating staff, project managers, owners, general contractors, suppliers and appropriate sub-trades to ensure that all cost estimates are received in order to determine an appropriate bid to carry out the project.4 z6 C1 y# d% z7 v$ j! ]2 U
Additionally the responsibilities of the Chief Estimator will include:
- Y% H* E+ b9 Q. J1 o! { I/ l- L• Involvement in project cycles from initiation of estimate until job start-up" b& F- X h& u& K
• Involved in pricing complex change orders during construction and assist project managers in pricing extra work and risk assessment2 F# c+ M; x# z: o4 |+ j4 _! v% B
• Detailed estimate preparation for earthworks and civil structural construction (concrete work to ground level and underground piping etc.), B$ A) s. y( q6 Z
• Do or assist in material take-offs, assemble bill of materials and solicit material pricing
- D a7 L2 L9 A' G& y• Do a risk assessment as part of bid preparation for review with management
6 P% j& e8 l) `) ~) W; c• Set-up crews and productivity as the base for the estimate; for complex project this would be done in consultation with project managers and field superintendent" R9 t" G( j; h/ d4 I# o& G5 L$ y
• As part of finalizing estimates responsible for market value determination and recommending the mark-up percentage and strategy to Co-President3 Y5 x/ A5 W& L# \' k
• Liaison between client, management and bid team during tender preparation5 L" Q! R& Q" P t2 s/ U4 z
• Participate in the award of contract/ k3 Z2 x# g# b
• Material procurement, subcontract coordination and liaison between client, management and construction team during project execution phase4 p6 W& _9 T- I
• Submit specification to insurance Broker so that proper insurance is carried in the tender
# J2 L2 X l- {) u% G• Submit specification to bonding agents for contracts bonding is a requirement
( g$ _7 G, v% C; z* V i• Work with safety and business development to ensure all prequalification documents are current and complete

Requirements:
$ J/ N* R/ N5 o2 t6 h+ g: g/ K$ pThe successful candidate will have 10+ years experience in a Senior Estimating role. Your past or current focus will be in a Civil Construction in an industrial environment.
! k' E, |1 V. {- V• Civil Engineer or C.E.T.
& t) \0 V, Q( P6 h0 a• Must possess strong written and verbal communication
) a+ M Z Y; f% f• Strong working knowledge of Excel
$ v, _) t/ |9 D4 D• Is familiar with and has used an estimating system, O1 r( a! t/ G" m
• Knowledge of Bid2Win estimating software an asset
; ~6 n9 [# B" {5 H( zThis is a demanding role that requires you to oversee multiple projects, as well as ambitiously working towards upcoming projects. Your estimating expertise will allow you to start from a blank sheet and you will possess a thorough knowledge of how corporate objectives impact on estimating strategies and techniques.
