[加国新闻] 加国失业率6.5% 亚省工资涨幅最高

加国统计局公布八月加国失业率上升为6.5%,约有16000个职位被裁。; ?# w+ S* s2 {' v

上月亚省因为经济的发展,新增职位8000个,而失业率仍然从七月的3.6%升至4.2%,因为大量人员前往亚省寻找工作。

5 r; q( Q' z+ n7 {- X相比起去年同期,平均工资上涨了3.7%,在通货膨胀率之上。而其中以亚省增长率最高,为8.3%,这缘于人员短缺。

If the U.S. economy slows more quickly than economists expect, the prospects of Canada's manufacturing sector look "bleak," said TD Bank economist David Tulk (TSX:TD).

While Quebec and Ontario have seen their manufacturing heartlands pummelled, both provinces posted job gains in the services sector. / X7 U0 Y, g9 y5 I( O8 L8 E- Z* \

Alberta continues to drive much of the country's job growth as its oilpatch produced 8,000 new jobs in August. But that number hasn't kept up with the flow of people streaming into the province looking for work as Alberta's unemployment rate jumped to 4.2 per cent, from 3.6 per cent in July. . J6 ]: ^2 n  d' m5 I5 O" U

Although Alberta accounts for only one-tenth of the country's workforce, the province has generated close to 40 per cent of all new jobs in the country this year, Statistics Canada noted. ( ]8 l, q3 c7 E

Canadian workers are generally benefiting from higher wages. Salaries were 3.7 per cent higher last month, compared with a year ago.
! H/ m+ _  {* M% ^
1 U1 f( B+ v  j/ l, kThat's more than one percentage point higher than the national inflation rate. But for most economists this is not causing concern about inflation because the national wage numbers are largely driven by spiralling salaries in Alberta.

1 [9 `3 e. k9 v$ [" U& P0 ^* P2 Z+ qEconomists said the Bank of Canada is likely to hold the line on interest rates for the rest of 2006 as the economy cools from its pace earlier this year. Porter said the bank is likely to cut its key lending rate in early 2007. 9 y2 w; X8 }' x9 H- b
