% v1 M8 l/ w1 I3 O: c1 NDivision/Portfolio Overview The Environment sector works with industry and government to develop, test and deploy new technologies and process that will help build commerce in Alberta while reducing environmental impacts. Ecosystems Management develops methods to balance industrial development and ecosystems health. The Environment sector works collaboratively with Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring institute (ABMI), an arms-length, value-neutral, scientific organization that measures and reports on the health of Alberta’s Biodiversity. The ABMI conducts world-class biodiversity monitoring of more than 2000 species and habitats throughout Alberta.) e0 X7 I% A% w" W; m0 N3 I
Position Overview We are seeking two Junior Field Technologists for our Wildlife Ecology Group in Vegreville to provide support in the delivery of the ABMI program. Duties include, but are not limited to, field data collection (forest stand, soil, birds, plants, wetlands, etc.); assisting field coordinators with field season preparation duties, summer staff training and QA/QC as required; assisting with data verification and site selection as well as equipment maintenance, repair and calibration. All technical training and many certifications are provided.. e6 H% ]; G J8 `# o) y4 O, h& M
Requirements The ideal candidates will possess a degree or diploma in Biology, Natural Resources, Forestry or a related field. The successful candidates must have the ability to endure early mornings, long days, challenging conditions, and rigorous fieldwork while collecting high quality data. Skills in boreal, grassland, or aquatic plant identification are assets. A valid driver’s license, excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential. Relevant field work experience preferred.
