我在本地工作了八年多了，也 interview 过国人，我认为以下几点是新移民的

（1）resume format, (description of your skills and experiences )% H+ {+ E, h* I6 V1 V2 y
(2) first phone call interview (communication skills, not English level)
6 R6 H8 t0 c" E" H5 S6 V# j (3) interview skills, like body language, eye contact,
$ G( U. g; j2 g1 n (4) understanding to the questions, (not English problem, it is the different concepts as in China, i.e. safety, communication with other people)

8 P. r( Q* `4 W. z, O. c" i& I (5) talking too much, too details about your technical skills, but interviewers don't care that, because they believe what your resume told, they only want to know if you are easy-going in future and don't make trouble for others.

(6) networking, do you know where you should send your resume to?7 w, N; z# W0 S
, j) o! Q/ b0 |# }
(7) don't know the job's duties and talking too much some things else. For example, for a chemical engineer job, you don't need to mention to much experiences in mangement or market in China.

7 s# t# Z8 }5 Q, [5 |(8) It is better to find a person as your reference (writing it on your resume now, don't use "avaiable upon request"), the person should be working now as a professional in Canada, better in Alberta, Please try to know more people working now

(9) English problem, but not the most important, you need to slow down speaking and make it clear, that is good enough. Don't try to show how good your English, it is not possible better than local people anyway. The companies need person who can do something good, not the person can tell something good. that's why they interview you.

(10) try to understand some local codes, mangement system, safety rules, 5 _. C! c( X& p0 E
. [* c- `% h/ P2 L) m(11) try to know as more as possible old immigrants, who are working here, not only in new immigrants' world, you will find you can get much much useful information.1 v; Q. m* L2 }7 ?( a6 A+ f
2 n7 d8 K* v2 l7 }& G(12) try to learn driving,and buy a car as soon as possible, it will open your world much bigger and very helpful for job hunting.7 a& w0 f6 I d% y0 N8 a( b
